Eggnog!!

Texas Mike convinced me that this is the best place to blog about my treat adventures. Ill try and link to the myspace page as much as possible because that is the place I feel most comfortable. It is also where the Treat Team was born so I guess I have a soft spot for it. Owen reminded me about how hard this idea failed before so Ive tweaked the formula a bit. Instead of trying to get people to make me treats I am going to be spending a bit more time in the kitchen and a bit less time in the dining room. Im going to try and focus this blog on the things I make and how they turn out. I am in no way an experienced chef, but I will eat just about anything and Im not scared of experimentation. I am also not much of a writer or food critic, so bear with me. I would like to encourage community involvement in this endevor as it will inspire me to stick with it and actually keep cooking and updating. If you have eaten or baked any awesome treats, please take pictures or it didnt happen. Message me with your review and I will post it. Here is the first post about some eggnog I made yesterday.

I am a grinch. I dont really like Christmas because I don't really like listening to the same 12 songs for a month unless it is a Jawbreaker album. I dont really like a lot of things. One thing I do like about the season is eggnog. I figured I could probably make a better nog than a corporation so I combined a few things from some recipes I found online and made a pretty damn good drink:

Beat 6 egg whites with a bit of sugar until they get thick, add in a seperate bowl add the yolks to 3 cups of milk, 1 12oz can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, 1 tsp of rum extract, some cinnamon and nutmeg to your liking and mix well. Fold in the egg whites and then whip 1/3 cup of whipping cream until it forms solid peaks. Fold that in as well, heat if desired, add dark rum if desired, garnish with nutmeg and enjoy. This was super easy and if you dont mind getting poisoned by some bad eggs for christmas i highly recommend making this, it took like 10 minutes and tasted way better than the stuff you get at the store. Plus i like being that dude who makes his own eggnog.

Lastly, Owen has accepted my challange to eat and review all of the top 10 chocolate desserts in New York City as rated by New York Magazine. His heroic tale will be available for viewing exclusively on the Treat Team blog.
